Another crucial step in maintaining a spiritual connection is understanding what it truly means to be connected. Often, being connected to God is portrayed as a life filled with blessings, prosperity, and endless sunny days—free from evil, pain, and suffering.
This false narrative makes it easy for people to become angry at God when hardship strikes, such as the loss of a loved one or a job. However, the truth is that believers will inevitably face suffering, pain, and trials. The key is recognizing that God uses these challenges for a purpose—whether to reveal His glory, strengthen our faith, or deepen our dependence on Him.
Once you understand this, you can shift your focus from questioning God to seeking what He is showing you. True peace—God’s peace—is not the absence of suffering but the presence of His comfort in the midst of it. In contrast, the world defines peace as the absence of conflict.
We must learn to take our eyes off our circumstances and fix them on God. Our adversity is temporary; God is eternal. One of His greatest promises to His children is that He will never leave or forsake us.
If you’re going through a season of suffering, keep your eyes on God. Even when it doesn’t feel like He is watching or near, trust that He is. And when you do, you will begin to see His glory revealed through your trials.
