Epsom Salt Baths: My Low-Key Recovery Secret
When I was younger, I used to think Epsom salt baths were one of those “extra” wellness things people hyped up just for the vibes. But after a week of sore muscles from a workout I definitely underestimated, mixed with sitting too long at my desk every day, I decided to give it a shot. And wow… game changer.
First of all, there’s something about just soaking that feels like pressing reset on your whole body. You’re not rushing, not multitasking, just letting the heat and those magnesium-rich salts do their thing. My back? Less tight. My legs? Way less stiff. Even my mood got a little boost.
Turns out, Epsom salt (aka magnesium sulfate) helps relax your muscles, reduce inflammation, and ease tension. It doesn’t fix everything, but it definitely helps after a tough workout or a long day of being stuck in office chair mode. It’s like giving your body a deep breath.
I tossed in a couple drops of essential oil, dimmed the lights, and let myself just be for like 20 minutes. No scrolling. No emails. Just peace.
Now it’s part of my go-to recovery routine. Not every night — but when my body’s sore or my mind’s fried, that bath hits different.

How to Take an Epsom Salt Bath:
1. Fill your tub with warm (not too hot) water.
2. Add about 2 cups of Epsom salt — no need to be fancy, just plain is fine.
3. Optional: a few drops of lavender or eucalyptus essential oil.
4. Soak for 15–20 minutes. Breathe. Be still. Let it do its thing.
5. Drink water before and after to stay hydrated.
